Pikeville celebrates Christmas

Pikeville’s Christmas celebration kicked off Saturday with the city’s annual parade beginning at 1 p.m. downtown. The parade featured a number of local businesses, students, dancers, first responders and Christmas characters tossing treats to the hundreds of attendees who lined the streets downtown. The University of Pikeville Band hosted Tuba Christmas at the bottom of the 99 steps on the campus, with the group performing popular Christmas tunes. From 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., Santa made a special visit to the city park to greet children and to take photos with them. The fun continued at the East Kentucky Expo Center during the annual Christmas Craft Bazaar, where shoppers located the perfect hand-crafted gifts and antiques.
