On Tuesday of this week, Dave Thomas worked his last day as an employee of the Pikeville Independent School System. To say he’ll be missed is like saying the Titanic was a little bit of a letdown.
Lakia Bailey, Coordinator of Graphic Services and Events at the University of Pikeville since 2012, has accepted a position to move to the athletic department at the school as the Assistant Sports Information Director and Athletic Assistant, Director of Athletics Kelly Wells announced on Friday.
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced on Wednesday that a pair of University of Pikeville softball student-athletes have been named 2018 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
RICHMOND — The Kentucky Softball Coaches Association (KSCA) has announced its All-State teams. Among the honorees in Class A are Pikeville standouts Cassidy Lowe and Camryn Slone, both of whom were named Second Team All-State.
PAINTSVILLE —Pikeville eighth-grade pitcher Emily Ford hurled a shutout as the Lady Panthers blanked rival Belfry 9-0 in the opening round of the 15th Region Softball Tournament at Johnson Central on Wednesday.
Three of the four 15th Region first round games have been played. Pikeville and Johnson Central will meet in the region semifinals. Lawrence County has a spot in the region semifinals as well after knocking off Phelps 11-1 in five innings Monday night as well.
Pikeville cruised to its third straight 59th District Championship Friday night with a 10-0 win over Shelby Valley in five innings.
Things didn’t heat up until late in the game, but after Pikeville’s Drake Potter hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning, the Golden Eagles were able to come back to a 4-2 win over the Panthers thanks to Tate Meade’s walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh.

Fans at Charlie Adkins field in Paintsville were treated to a great game Thursday evening when the Pikeville Panthers came to town to take on the Paintsville Tigers. The Tigers came out ahead late in the game to pull of a 4-3 win over the Panthers.
