Connie Rosemae Elkins, 58, of Ashcamp Road, died Sunday, May 19, 2019, at her residence.

She was born at Taylor, Mich., Aug. 12, 1960, the daughter of the late Herman Stanley and Kansas Belcher.

She was a homemaker and of the Christian faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Willie Elkins; and one brother, Danny Stanley.

She is survived by one son, Matthew Elkins (Jessica); one daughter, Amanda Bishop (Mitch); one sister, Sandra Cantrell; and five grandchildren, Leeanna, Brayden, Makayla, Aubree and Aaron.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, May 23, 2019, at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Belcher Cemetery, Shelby Gap. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.

Gloria Hall

Gloria F. Hall, 85, of Indian Creek Road, Virgie, died Tuesday, May 21, at her residence.

She was born June 27, 1933, in Pike County, the daughter o the late Ben and Zuela Tackett Hall.

She was a homemaker and attended the Enterprise Old Regular Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Damron; a stepmother, Draxie Hall; two sons-in-law, Roger Mullins and Greg Damron; four brothers, Hiram Hall, Lacy Hall, Clarence Hall and Charles Hall; and two sisters, Jan Tackett and Mildred Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Sammy K. Hall; a son, Kenny (Burma) Hall; two daughters, Peachy (Richard) Hopkins and Pam Mullins; two brothers, J.B. Hall and Raymond Hall; eight grandchildren, Heather, Chad, Monica, Ashley, Josh, Diane, Alex and Beth; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Saturday, May 25, at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home, with James Tackett, Teddy Honaker and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Osborne Community Cemetery, Turkey Pen.

Visitation will be after Thursday at the funeral home, with special services at 7 p.m. Friday.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lucas and Son Funeral Home.

Minnie Belle Hamilton, 79, of Morehead, formerly of Penny Road, died Monday, May 20, 2019, at her residence.

She was born in Pike County, Dec. 28, 1939, the daughter of the late Willard and Hama Kiser Bartley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Danny Hamilton (Ocie); one daughter, Mamie Carroll (Ronnie); six brothers, Delmer Bartley, Odis Bartley, Trimble Bartley, Otis Bartley, Elbert Bartley and Emery Bartley; three sisters, Hessie Elswick, Essie Elswick and Gladys Thomas; and one great-grandchild, Cash Carter Cornett.

She is survived by her husband, Clifford Hamilton, of Morehead; one son, Marvin Hamilton (Opal), of Morehead; one daughter, Janice Sue Hamilton, of Morehead; two brothers, Offie Bartley, of Ohio, and David Bartley, of Penny Road; one sister, Edith Hersheck, of Spinners Town, Penn.; and nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 23, 2019, at the Union Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow at the Willard Bartley Cemetery, Penny Road. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.

Dalelano Martin Henderson, 31, of Pikeville, died Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Lower Johns Creek.

He was born in Pike County, July 24, 1987, the son of Deno LaMont and Jennifer Betty Young Henderson of Pikeville.

He was a cashier and was employed by Shurtleff Sanitary Laundry and Dry Cleaners, Inc., of Pikeville.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, David Lee Henderson and Mary Lou Melton; and his maternal grandmother, Lillian Kendrick.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his spouse, Fanice Jean Smith, of Georgia; four children, Darius DaMont Henderson and DeLeigha Dawn Henderson, both of Pikeville, and DaNaya DaShae Henderson and Jadien Emily Henderson, both of Georgia; three brothers, Curtis LaMont Berry, of Richmond, DeMarcum Lee Henderson, of Pike County, and DeTrae Henderson, of Elkhorn City; two sisters, MariLynn LaRose Gibson,  of Pike County, and DaMecka LaShae Henderson, of Elkhorn City; and his maternal grandfather, Jessie Young, of Sidney.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 24, 2019, at the Pentecostal of Pike County Church, Raccoon. Burial will follow at the Holloway Cemetery, Millers Creek.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 23, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Community Funeral Home of Zebulon.

Paul Daniel Hunt, 80, of Greasy Creek Road, died Monday, May 20, 2019, at Pikeville Medical Center.

He was born at Big Rock, Va., Dec. 31, 1938, the son of the late Kenis and Florence Rowe Hunt.

He was retired from Ford Motor Company and a member of the Fords Branch Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Orville and Denver Hunt; three sisters, Shirley, Sylvia and Arizona; and a great-granddaughter, Rylee Hall.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi Senters Hunt; four sons, Glenn Lamb (Tina), Paul Hunt (Heather), Richard Hunt (Tammie) and Shane Phillips (Pam); two brothers, Wendell Hunt and Dale Hunt; two sisters, Phyllis Hogston and Ruth Blevins; and 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2019, at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Sam Casebolt and Willie Meade officiating. Burial will follow at the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Chloe Road, Shelbiana.

“JJ” Perkins

James Aubrey “JJ” Perkins, 34, died Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Lexington.  

He was born at Pikeville, Dec. 20, 1984, the son of James Sr. and Melissa “Missy” Perkins.

He was the light of the family. He kept everyone laughing.

He was preceded in death by his loving grandmothers, Wanda Sue Damron and Patty Lou Perkins; his grandfather, John Perkins; his infant niece, Madison Perkins; his infant nephew, Kashton Perkins; and his infant cousin, Trey Looney.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two adoring children, Aubrey Perkins and Bryson Perkins, both of Shelbiana; one brother, Nathan Perkins (Claudia), of Virgie; his nieces, Hannah Perkins and Rhylin Perkins; his nephew, Josh Perkins; his grandfather, Lloyd “Sam” Damron, of Pikeville; his uncles, Lloyd “Kevin” Damron (aunt, Michelle), of Pikeville, and John Perkins ( aunt, Tammy); his aunt, Angel “Sis” Perkins (uncle, Greg), of Virgie; his former wife, Coti S. Perkins; and a loving host of great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, family and friends.

He will certainly be missed by each one that loved him.

He is survived by one son, William Anthony Ratliff, of Elkhorn City; one daughter, Erin Nicole Ratliff, of Elkhorn City; two brothers, Jerry Ratliff, of Okeechobee, Fla., and Robert Ratliff, of Elkhorn City; an ex-wife, Lisa Wahlin, of Jupiter, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Jessica Ratliff; three sisters-in-law, Lynne Ratliff, of Rutledge, Tenn., Kaye Ratliff, of Okeechobee, Fla., and Teresa Ratliff, of Elkhorn City; one sister, Janie Conley, of Elkhorn City; a brother-in-law, Dave Conley, of Elkhorn City; three grandchildren, Hailey Madison Renzie, Jade Elise Renzi and Erica Paige Renzi; and a host of nieces and nephews.
