Varney officially sworn in

Kent Varney, right, takes the oath of office from Kentucky Supreme Court Justice Samuel Wright Thursday, as Varney continues to serve as Pike County’s Family Court judge. Varney won the office in the November general election but had been appointed earlier in the year by then-Gov. Matt Bevin to fill the unexpired term of Larry Thompson, who was elected to the Kentucky Court of Appeals. In addition to Wright, other judges attending the ceremony were Thompson, Pike Circuit Judge Eddy Coleman, Pike District judges Robert Wright and Tommy May and retired Circuit Judge Marc Rosen.
