A gravel truck and a Jeep sit damaged along U.S. 23 following a crash Monday evening. Pikeville Police Officer Chad Branham said the wreck occurred north of Pikeville when the Jeep, being driven southbound by a juvenile from Johnson County, attempted to avoid a piece of debris, a dresser drawer, in the roadway and entered into the path of a gravel truck and the two collided. The gravel truck, driven by Donald Wright, then struck the guardrail and came to rest on the shoulder of the highway, Branham said. A third vehicle also sustained minor damage in the crash. Branham said despite severe damage to the Jeep and the gravel truck, no injuries were reported in the crash. Pikeville Fire-EMS also responded.
