Officials: More drugs found in jail

Posted: Tuesday, October 18, 2011 11:45 pm

A Pikeville woman is facing felony charges after corrections officers allegedly found her to be in possession of more that three dozen pills in the Pike County Detention Center.

According to an arrest citation filed in Pike Circuit Court, Shellie M. Duncan, 35, of Left Fork of Island Creek, Pikeville, was found to be in possession of prescription drugs — including drugs used in the treatment of mental health issues — during her stay at the detention center on unrelated charges. The citation said the drugs were spotted by jail personnel when Duncan dropped a pill in the floor in the jail’s isolation area.
