Pike County grand jury hands down indictments

A Pikeville man was indicted last week on several theft, burglary and criminal mischief charges after an alleged spree that ran from May until early last month.

James E. Mace, 18, of Pikeville, was indicted by a Pike Grand Jury on three felony theft charges, two misdemeanor theft charges, two charges of first-degree criminal mischief, two charges of third-degree burglary and a charge of second-degree burglary.

According to the indictments, Mace stole heat pump parts from the UMWA and Pike Fiscal Court and truck parts, causing damage to the heat pumps in an amount exceeding $2,000.

Mace, the indictments charge, also burglarized and stole computers from the Kentucky Community Action Program and Elizabeth Music.

Chadrick J. Gibson, 19, of Pikeville, was also indicted along with Mace on first-degree criminal mischief and theft charges for the alleged UMWA theft.

Other indictments handed down last week included:

€ Charles W. Morrison, 52, of Pikeville, first-degree wanton endangerment for allegedly endangering Robin D. Morrison.

€ Terry G. Back Jr., 26, of McRoberts, on charges of criminal possession of a forged instrument (two counts), fraudulent use of a credit card and theft of identity (seven counts).

€ Ermil K. Rogers, 27, of Pikeville, on a charge of flagrant non-support for allegedly not providing support for his three minor children.

€ James K. Bishop, 31, of Williamson, W.Va., on a charge of flagrant non-support for allegedly not providing support for his minor child.

€ Jason Carroll, 25, of Botkins, Ohio, on a charge of flagrant non-support for allegedly not providing support for his minor child.

€ Joshua Hubbard, 26, of Pinsonfork, on a superseding indictment charging him with second-degree sodomy (two counts), possession of a matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor and use of a computer or communications system for the purpose of procuring or promoting the use of a minor for unlawful sexual activity.

€ Cas Walter Kilgore, 34, of Elkhorn City, on a charge of theft for allegedly stealing a car trailer belonging to James Childers.

€ Rachel Logan, 24, of Pikeville, on a charge of theft by failure to make the required disposition of property for allegedly obtaining property worth more than $300 and giving the property to other people without getting the required payment for the property.

€ Janet Maynard, 56, of Zebulon, on charges of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

€ Denver Stewart III, 31, of Pikeville, and Ronald Brandon Justice, 31, of Shelbiana, on charges of second-degree burglary for allegedly breaking into the residence of Ballard Adkins and stealing a television and air conditioner. Stewart was also indicted on a charge of being a persistent felony offender in the second degree.

€ Timothy Robinson II, 27, of Pikeville, on charges of receiving stolen property for allegedly receiving, retaining or disposing of a television stolen from Ballard Adkins and on a charge of being a persistent felony offender in the second degree.

€ Richard Starghill, 31, of Pikeville, on a charge of first-degree bail jumping.

An indictment is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
